We enjoyed an entertaining afternoon at Kea School today as our Year 3/4 boys football team played their first matches for the school. Six teams took part in the competition – Bosvigo, Kea, Archbishop Benson, Devoran, St Mary’s and St Erme and our boys enjoyed five high-quality matches.
After drawing our opening match against Archbishop Benson, we played St Mary’s and won 2-0 thanks to two goals from midfielder Jak. We then produced our best perfromance of the day to beat an in-form St Erme 3-0 with a superb hat-trick from Joe. Our fourth game finished with a flourish with Ras scoring a great equaliser with the last kick of the game, having gone a goal down seconds before. We went into the last game with a chance of coming first overall, but ran out of steam a little and were narrowly beaten 1-0 by eventual champions Devoran.
The boys came third overall, a point behind Archbishop Benson, and can be delighted with their performances. A number of parents and teachers from other schools commented on how promising our team looks and it won’t be long before more of our Year 3 and 4 children are playing football for the Year 6 team. Well done to all ten boys involved!
