Year 5 and 6 begin conservation project

Last month, Classes 10 and 11 visited Coosebean Woods to meet Countryside Ranger Chris and begin our exciting conservation project.

Over the course of the year, we plan to visit the Coosebean area a number of times to complete different tasks that will help preserve and enhance the natural environments in our community.

Our first task was to take the cuttings from Truro City Council’s woodland clearing and use these to create ‘dead hedges’, which provide shelter for small animals, a habitat for minibeasts and a protective boundary for delicate wild spaces.

We had a great time working with Chris and are looking forward to our next visit, when we will be planting hundreds of trees.
