Can you tell a devil crab from a shore crab? Or a limpet from a barnacle? Well, thanks to their visit this week, our Year 6s now can!
A busy week of trips in Key Stage 2 began on Wednesday, when our oldest children went to Castle Beach in Falmouth for a rock pool day with the Rock Pool Project, a not-for-profit group of marine biologists whose aim is to educate the public about rock pool ecology.
We had a brilliant day exploring the rock pools of Castle Beach and found a huge range of sea creatures living in the pools and under the rocks. Thanks to the Rock Pool Project staff we also now have a really great knowledge of the creatures that live in the rock pools and how we can tell them apart.
Next week the teaching staff have a twilight session with Ben from the Rock Pool Project and we hope to offer lots more children rock-pooling experiences in the new school year.
