Lower Key Stage Two were recently treated to a visit by a Roman legionary soldier. It was AD 128 and Hadrian’s Wall had just been completed. This was the northern most part of the Roman Empire, a place where no Roman soldier wanted to be. The children found out what life was like for a member of the Legion and what impact invasion had on Britannia. The children were also challenged to complete timelines relating to Roman times in Britain, code cracking using Roman Numerals and how to play Roman card games! The day was completed with a battle complete with shields and javelins!
