Big Bosvigo Bike Ride 2014

The Big Bosvigo Bike Ride is back for 2014 on Sunday 27th April. The plan is to cycle or walk as much of the Bissoe Trail as you would like with your friends, raising money for Bosvigo School. We have suggested 3 points you could join the trail but if you wanted there are other places you could join including starting at Devoran to do the whole 11½ miles of the trail.

Netball Festival

Congratulations to our U9 LKS2 Netball squad! Yesterday afternoon 14 players of our LKS2 enthusiasts entered the Netball Festival at Truro Prep School. After a fun-filled warm up (meeting new friends and getting a little dizzy) we played a total of 9 matches.

Each match was played in 10 minute halves. During half time, we swapped our players so everyone played at least 3 matches each! All the teachers and parents who supported thoroughly enjoyed cheering us on and helping us improve our netball skills. For some of us, it was our first time representing Bosvigo as part of a sports team. An extra congratulations goes to…Mischa, Melody and Soleil! They immediately, “When is the next festival? Can we do this every week?”

The grand finale was a match on the large court, before retiring to a welcomed surprise of…biscuits and squash!

Thank you Truro Prep for having us; to Mrs Joslin and Mr Wallis for driving the minibus; to Miss Mitchell, Miss Robinson and Mr Armstrong for coaching us; and to ALL THE PARENTS who CHEERED US ALONG!

World Book Day

World book day is coming!
Thursday 6th March
Who will you dress up as?
Everyone is invited to dress up as their favourite character from a book.

What will you be doing?
All classes will be providing an activity which is reading related. Foundation Stage and Upper Key Stage Two are looking forward to visiting Waterstones. Tent temptation – book buddies have been busy organising some exciting events in Kynance Cove (the library, not the Lizard)!

Which will you you choose? Perhaps you will kick start with your Book Talk (towards your “Book Award”) or share a story with Grandma or Grandpa!

Each activity will be filled with excitement and opportunities for all the family to be involved…who will you bring?

So, start reading your favourite book (or explore a new one), ask a family member to come aboard and prepare your costume!

Best wishes,

Family Quiz Night

Friday 25th January saw our first family quiz night at Bosvigo School! It was excellently attended by 15 teams who actually filled the school hall! Everyone seemed to have a good time and all the children were really well behaved throughout, possibly motivated for Best Behavior prizes!

It was a bring-your-own-wine event with tea, coffee, cheese and crackers available to help the brain cells keep working! The winning teams were:

1st- ‘Creases’ with 93 points, including Sofia Gabriele, Ava Gabriele and Emily Chaplin Prize- £10 Penrose outdoors voucher & £10 Zaffiros voucher plus sweets & house points

2nd-‘Penguins of Justice’ with 85 points, including Joe Hammond, Mr Bateson and Mr Wallis Prize- Two bottles of wine, sweets and house points

3rd-‘The Heayn team’ with 81 points, including Amber Heayn Prize- two tins of biscuits, sweets and house points

There were paper tablecloths on each table for people to decorate and the best table decoration prize went to ‘Creases’ and ‘Quizzie Rascals’ who won a ‘raze the Roof voucher’ and house points.

The prize for best team name went to ‘Quizzie Rascals’ who got 20 house points and the winner of ‘Heads or Tails’ was Mr Heayn who won a bottle of whiskey!

A great time was had by all and we raised £177 for FOBSA funds! Some feedback on the night was ‘very enjoyable’, ‘do it again!’ and ‘we really enjoyed it’, ‘very good evening’ and ‘well planned and organised’.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event and all the helpers from FOBSA that made it happen! We hope to make this an annual event, so look out for the next one!

FOBSA cake sale

Did you know about FOBSA's first cake sale of the year? This was held
in the KS1 playground on Friday, we had a delicious assortment of
goodies and are thrilled to have raised more than £75.

Thank you to everyone who supported us by baking, buying and helping
on the stall at short notice to keep the queues down!

FOBSA's Friday Family Breakfast

The first FOBSA family breakfast of the school year took  place today. Thank you to everyone who came. We raised a truly fantastic £125. Thank you to all those who helped and made donations. A special big thanks to the children who made a particularly early start and helped with flower arranging, toast popping and music selection.
